REFLECTION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE – by Lisa-Marie Calderone-Stewart

‘Nice guys finish last.’ ‘Look out for Number One.’ ‘Be the “me” generation.’ Have you ever heard these sayings? What kind of lifestyle do they promote? Why do you think they became popular? Can a person really live an active Christian lifestyle without opposing this philosophy of life? Why or why not?

What do you think are the most important things in life? What does society, the mainstream culture in our country, say are the most important things in life? What does Jesus say are the most important things in life? How does all that relate to service?

The sandal is a symbol of service. How and why do you think a sandal symbolises service?
