Buy A Brick - STAGE TWO FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
My dear friends,
It is exactly 2 years ago that I shared with you the 3 STAGE vision for the Parish. I am happy to announce that stage 1 has been completed. Works to the church include – Repairs to the roof, external awnings, painting, internal water damage, new lighting, and repairs to pavers. Works to the Presbytery and Parish Centre which include – Roof repairs and external awnings of the Parish Centre includes removal of asbestos, painting of presbytery external and internal, new presbytery bathroom, concreting, and fencing.
All of this could not have been possible without your support and generosity to the STAGE 1 Buy a Brick Campaign which raised over $55,000. There was also a small team of individuals who gave vast amount of time to unpaid labour to save funds for additional project. This band of helpers continue to support the parish and give me confidence to launch STAGE 2.
STAGE 2 is a significant project, it involves architectural plans, council/ certification approvals to extend the office space, provide storage for Parish Centre chairs and tables, build a compliant disabled toilet, and upgrade the Parish Centre with a new kitchen and media equipment.
How are we going to raise $200,000 for STAGE 2? STAGE 1 took approximately 5 months to raise the $50,000 target. With STAGE 2, we aim to begin to apply for Government Grants at the same time as fundraising. This way doubling our efforts to achieve the outcome in a consolidated way. Our hope is to raise $100,000 from the parish and $100,000 raised in grant applications.
In STAGE 1 we launched the project with $1000 from a generous donor. STAGE 2 we have another donor who has generously given $10,000.
There are continued challenges with the cost of building materials and the cost of living, however in prayer and with the continued hope in the spirit of generosity that I move forward. Many parishioners who come to St Brigid’s find a welcoming warmth and friendship here. While I have been the priest to commence these projects I follow a number of priest before me who have been part of the ongoing maintenance and vitality of the parish. My task has been to plant seeds in the good soil and trust that God will continue the work with other priests and good leadership making the harvest plentiful. A spirit of unification and collaboration working for His Kingdom.
Let us continue to work together to rebuild, restore and revitalise our beautiful parish. I encourage you to support the STAGE 2 launch with prayer, thanksgiving and financially once again funding the Buy A Brick Campaign.
God’s abundant blessings,
Fr Albert 27th August 2024

Buy A Brick - STAGE ONE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN - COMPLETED
In 2022, Fr Albert Wasniowski OSPPE launched the Buy a Brick campaign with the goal of raising much needed funds for maintenance, repairs, grounds keeping, and renovations to improve and grow the church.
Individuals and families could 'buy a brick' by donating $100 to the church, and in return their names would be listed on the windows at the front of the church.
The first stage of fundraising for this campaign finished in September 2023, raising $54,000; just ahead of our goal. Donor names were printed on the right side of the Church windows near to reconciliation room.
Stage One included works on the external roof, surfeits, fascia, columns, internal sanctuary, confessional, and lighting.
Stage Two will fundraise for the Parish Centre
Stage Three will seek to leave a legacy to the parish by introducing church pews.
Although such works are expensive, particularly in the current financial climate, to neglect the projects will lead to greater costs to the parish in the long run.
Special thanks to each of the contributors to Stage One fundraising:

Prayer to St Brigid
Saint Brigid,
You were a woman of peace,
You brought harmony where there was conflict.
You brought light into the darkness.
You brought hope to the downcast.
May the mantle of your peace
Cover those who are troubled and anxious,
And may peace be firmly rooted
In our hearts and in our world.
Inspire us to act justly and reverence all God has made.
Brigid, you were a voice for the wounded and the weary.
Strengthen what is weak within us.
Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens.
May we grow each day into greater wholeness -
In mind, body and spirit.
Amen.
