REFLECTION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE – by Lisa-Marie Calderone-Stewart

God cherishes even the sparrows, who cannot fly without God’s help. Yet sparrows are worth nothing compared with us.

Is it easy or difficult to believe that you are cherished by God? How so?

Is it easy or difficult to believe in yourself? Do you think you are significant? Why or why not?

Do you think most people your age feel their worth from their friends’ opinions of them or from their own opinions about themselves? Explain your answer.

Who else cherishes you? Who believes in you? Who knows you are significant? Jesus tells us to proclaim the truth from the rooftops. Jesus urges us to not be afraid of anyone who can only hurt our body, but to fear whatever can hurt our soul.

What can hurt your soul? What influences from today’s world can prevent you from being the best you can be? How do you counteract those influences?

What things are you afraid to talk about because you may be teased or mocked? How often do you talk about your inner fears and concerns? How often do you talk about your biggest dreams for yourself and for the world? What is the most important focus of your life right now?
